A glass-coated oasis of fluidity and warmth at Interlace Penthouse
- May 6, 2019
Soft and organic, with a magnificently structured layout, this 4800 sq ft roof garden penthouse located along Depot Rd in Singapore is a warm and contemporary setup. The owners engaged Arete Culture to style their home through the clever use of furniture, colours and complementary elements.
The stylists incorporated plenty of glass based on the architecture and layout of the space, which provided an opportunity to let the outdoors in through the intricate use of tones. This approach was essentially what led to the abode’s classy yet vibrant look.
The living room is made up of a spectacular ensemble of design elements and furniture choices. A series of vivid wall and floor art had been curated to reinforce the contemporary theme, with marble laminate and mercury glass featured on walls that function as reflective panels where light bounces off, capturing the colours of the carpet.
The homeowners wanted the design of the home to enhance (not hide) their love for their tech gadgets so the TV, speakers and other electronics were brought to the forefront and made to coincide with recurring themes throughout the home. Ample space for books had also been prioritised since the owners had an extensive book collection.
Rugs are also prominent components within the many sections of the home, implemented in both the communal areas and private sanctuaries.
Using a built-in bookshelf as a partition, a second living area was created next to the entertainment area. The subtle demarcation helped to divide the space into smaller, cosier subsections, adding more functionality to the open living space that stretches across the floor of the apartment.
This partitioning of the main living area also brings more visual intrigue to the home. The quaint library area between the dining and living space acts as a cosy spot to relax in.
In the dining area, the dining table and chairs from Arete Culture’s furniture collection were kept muted so that the focus would be kept on the statement wallpaper and mirrors.
The master bedroom takes on a softer colour palette of taupes and soft blues. An abstract low-pile rug and chevron wallpaper take centrestage in this otherwise tranquil landscape.
For added functionality, seat cushions were added to the settees to not only instill cosiness but also effectively softens the severe lines that characterizes of the building’s architecture. The bay window cushion is upholstered in a soft sky blue to mirror the tones of the sky.
This beautiful oasis depicts the opportunities and possibilities that can be had with a contemporary interior style. Vibrant design elements, a clever balance of elegance and innovation and a powerful sense of wonder are just some of the ways in which this home stands out.
